Project Description

FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) systems can be used to rehabilitate or restore the strength of a deteriorated structural member. FRP applications are also capable of retrofitting or strengthening a sound structural member to resist increased loads due to changes in use of the structure or to address design or construction errors.

To assess the suitability of an FRP system for a particular application, a condition assessment is required. A condition assessment consists of an analysis of the existing structure including establishing its existing load-carrying capacity, identifying deficiencies and their causes, and determining the condition of the concrete substrate. The overall evaluation should include a thorough field inspection, a review of existing design or as-built documents, and a structural analysis.
